In order to comply with national St. John Ambulance and WorkSafeBC training policies, we ask that the following requirements be observed when St. John Ambulance provides First Aid and/or CPR training at your location.

NOTE: A TV will need to be of sufficient size to be seen by all participants, 40” or larger. Laptop or computer screens are too small for instructional purposes. Both picture and sound input and output are needed, along with a functioning remote so that all of the menus, including sub-menus on the power-point can be accessed

- The classroom, including furniture, audio/visual equipment and empty floor space, will need to be set up prior to the start time as actual class time is limited. Any delay in the start time will result in the training running past the allotted time
Floor Space:
- 700 square feet of floor space, with 500 square feet or more clear for practical exercises, and 200 square feet for tables/chairs for use during the lectures and video
- Rooms that contain large pieces of furniture such as boardroom tables, etc. which cannot easily be moved are not suitable
- Rooms need to be well-lit and ventilated
- Surfaces (including the floor) must be clean and sanitary enough for the class to work on. Your organization may be charged for any additional costs incurred for washing/laundering equipment/blankets etc. used on unclean surfaces
- The training cannot be held in lunchrooms, cafeterias, or common areas where interruptions or excessive noise is likely
Unsuitable Space: (Having adequate space for the training is imperative.)
- By booking this course, you acknowledge that your facility meets the square footage requirements above, and understand that if the instructor finds that your space is not suitable because it does not meet all of the requirements above, the class will need to be rescheduled for a later date at a suitable facility.
- You will be required to pay the full class fee as per the original quote, plus any additional non-refundable fees or travel costs incurred in the arrangement of this course (flight cancellations etc.)
Class Cancellation or Change of Training Date:
- Requests for changes or cancellations must be received fifteen (15) days prior to the scheduled start date of the class. A $40.00 service fee for all changes plus any additional non-refundable fees (ie: accommodations, flights, travel, etc.) will be charged.
- Cancellations received within 15 days of the scheduled start date of the class, 50% of the cost of training (based on the minimum number of students required) plus any additional non-refundable fees will be charged (ie: accommodations, flights, travel, etc.) .
- Course prices include the cost of tuition, class materials (excluding printed textbooks) and training supplies and one exam fee (except Emergency Medical Responder). Prepayment for the minimum required seats is required to confirm your private class.
Payment:
- Your private class will be confirmed upon receipt of payment for the minimum requirment of 10 students
- Any additional students will be charged upon attendance at the quoted seat rate
- Certificates will be mailed to the company organizer once all invoices associated with this class have been paid in full, provided all students have signed our 'Consent for Disclosure'
Audio/Visual Requirements:
- All Audio Visual equipment must be reliable in its functioning and be available during the entire training session
- If you are providing the A/V equipment, please make sure it is set-up and ready for the class before the instructor arrives (about ½ hour before class start time)
- All TV's must have HDMI compatibility. We will provide a laptop and projector if you do not have a TV with HDMI ports available. We will need a large blank wall or whiteboard to project our PowerPoint

Course Attendance Requirements:
- Students are required to be in class for all theory and practical lessons. Should a student arrive late to class, leave in the middle of class and miss a lesson, are unable to adhere to the break schedule, or are unable to stay until class completion time they will not be eligible for certification
- Class interruptions may result in training sessions running overtime
- Please note that First Aid and CPR courses are physically demanding, emphasize practical skills and require full student participation. To qualify for certification, students must be able to perform skills to the required standards and successfully complete the written examination

- Take-home hard copy Emergency First Aid for Industry Student Supplement and First Aid Reference Guide books can be provided for an additional cost
- OFA Level 2 & OFA Level 3 online text books are provided by WorkSafeBC. Hard copy books can be provided for an additional cost
- Branch copies of the textbooks will be available for use during class. Any destroyed or missing classroom textbooks will be charged on final invoice
Dress Code:
- Please note that First Aid and CPR courses require physical activity and kneeling on the floor. We ask that you please dress comfortably and appropriately for class; dresses; skirts, short shorts, low riding pants, low cut tops, open-toed footwear, bare feet or business clothing are not suitable
ID Requirements (for WorkSafeBC courses):
- Appropriate government issued photo identification is required to be shown to the instructor prior to receiving a certificate (see Student ID requirements here)
Accommodations:
- If overnight accommodations for the instructor are required before, during or after the course, these arrangements must be provided and secured by your organization in advance of instructor arrival
Travel Fees:
- All potential fees associated with instructor travel will been identified in detail on the quote provided
Equipment:
- Equipment needed for class may need to be dropped off to your location the business day before you class and picked up the business day after the class. A secure location must be provided for this valuable equipment. Please note that lost or missing equipment will be charged to the customer.
St. John Ambulance is a non-profit organization.
